Amy Jacobs-Schroeder, BCaBA
Owner/ Autism Educator
Amy started in the field of early autism treatment in 1996 as a behavioral tutor at Applied Behavior Consultants School in Sacramento, CA. Later she worked as a Behavior Intervention Specialist for Barry Barmann and then as a Service Coordinator at Alta California Regional Center. Wanting to return to the autism field, Amy spent six years with a Sacramento based early intervention agency as a consultant, then later as a supervisor and then Director of In-Home Services.
Amy graduated from Sacramento State University with bachelors degrees in both Psychology and Child Development in May of 2000. She received her certification as a Board Certified Associate Behavior Analyst in October of 2006.
Cynthia Long, MA, BCBA
Cynthia began working with children with a diagnosis on the autism spectrum as an intern at a Lovaas replication site while attending the University of the Pacific. She continued on to become a senior tutor with that site before relocating to the Sacramento area. She spent five years with a local agency providing early intervention as a consultant, supervising consultant and Director of In-Home Services. She also has experience as a life skills coach for adults with developmental disabilities and as a Service Coordinator at Alta California Regional Center with both the childrens population (ages 3-14) and the early intervention population (birth to age 3).
She obtained her bachelors degree in Psychology from the University of the Pacific in 1998, her masters degree in teaching at National University in December of 2007 and became a Board Certified Behavior Analyst in April of 2008.
Laurie McKinnie, MA
Owner/ Autism Educator
Laurie began providing services to children on the autism spectrum in 1995 as a tutor at a Lovaas replication site through an internship at the University of the Pacific. Upon graduating, she went on to become a one-on-one instructional assistant for a student with autism in Elk Grove, California. In 1998, she moved to Hawaii and assisted with the development of an after school socialization program for children on the autism spectrum ages 2-14. Upon relocating to California in 2000, she worked as a Service Coordinator in the children’s unit at Alta California Regional Center until she moved on to a non-public agency providing early intervention for children on the autism spectrum. As a consultant, supervising consultant, then the Director of Staff Development, she assisted with the development and review of individual programs, hiring of staff, and supervision of consultants for five years. She also has experience as a Autism Specialist for San Joaquin County Office of Education in which she provided staff training and program development for children on the autism spectrum from 3-22.
Laurie completed her Bachelors degree at the University of the Pacific in 1997, and obtained her Master of Arts degree in Special Education in 2005.
Janet Payne, LCSW, PPS, School Psychologist, School Counselor
Janet started her career as a mental health professional first by earning her MSW and then in 1985 she became a Licensed Clinical Social Worker. Since that time, she has worked with children and families in a variety of capacities. In the early 1990’s Janet began to work more specifically with families and children who were diagnosed with developmental disabilities. She worked as a supervisor for a Developmental Evaluation Clinic in NYC hospital and later as a supervisor of a Children’s Unit for Alta California Regional Center . She returned to graduate school and earned her credential as a School Counselor and then as a School Psychologist. In 2007, Janet became licensed as a Licensed Educational Psychologist. She has worked with children with Autism and their families in private practice, as a school psychologist and as a consultant to non-public schools and non-public agencies for 20 years. She has been the clinical consultant and supervisor to the Square One staff since its inception in 2007.
Lisa Heitzler, MA, BCBA
Lisa started her career in the field of Special Education in 1994 working as an Aquatic Therapist and Instructional Assistant for individuals (ages 3-22 years) with a wide range of diagnoses, including autism. These experiences eventually lead her to the role of Special Education teacher in 2001 where she created and taught a class for high school students with autism. In this position Lisa discovered a strong interest in the field of Applied Behavior Analysis and autism treatment programs. In 2003, Lisa accepted a position as Behavior Specialist for Alta California Regional Center. Here she spent five years providing families of children who had received a diagnosis on the autism spectrum with consultation, parent training, and assessments for autism related services.
Lisa received a teaching credential in 2002, Masters Degree in Education in 2006 from California State University Sacramento and became a Board Certified Behavior Analyst in 2008.
Michelle Langbehn, MA
Michelle began working with children with a diagnosis on the autism spectrum as a behaviorial tutor in 2005. Upon graduating with her bachelors degree in Child Development from Sacramento State University in 2006, she began working as an educational consultant in the Sacramento and Elk Grove school districts collaborating with teachers and district staff in monitoring individualized education plans for children with developmental disabilities. Additionally, while working in the local school districts Michelle was responsible for training and managing instructional assistants.
She obtained her masters degree in teaching at National University in 2009 and is currently working toward receiving a Board Certification in Behavior Analysis. Michelle joined the Square One team in July of 2008.
Josh Langbehn, MA, BCBA
After earning his bachelors degree in Art Studio at UC Davis, Josh entered the field as a tutor for children with a diagnosis on the autism spectrum in 2003. He worked in a variety of settings and positions until becoming a behavior consultant in early 2006. As a consultant, he trained tutors and lead tutors, composed and implemented behavior plans, and collaborated with teachers and other professionals. Josh joined the Square One team in July 2008 and earned his masters degree in teaching with an emphasis in Applied Behavior Analysis in 2009. He is currently working toward a Board Certification in Behavior Analysis.
Brandy Taylor, MA
Brandy began working with young children with a diagnosis on the autism spectrum as a home therapist and inclusion aide for the Koegel Autism Clinic. She spent five years at the clinic before moving out of state for graduate school. Upon returning to California, Brandy has worked as a supervisor and developmental specialist for Children’s Hospital Autism Intervention (CHAI) in Oakland and a teacher and program coordinator for Pacific Autism Center for Education- Early Intervention in San Jose. She also has experience working for a local SELPA as an Autism Support Specialist where she provided staff training and classroom support for preschool aged children.
Brandy completed her undergraduate studies in Psychology and the Speech and Hearing Sciences in 2003 from the University of California Santa Barbara. In 2005, she graduated from the University of Kansas having completed the Autism and Asperger program and earning her masters degree in education. Brandy joined the Square One team in January of 2010.
Nikki Ohaco, MA, BCBA
Nikki began serving children with Autism in 2001 as a one-on-one behavior therapist in an in-home ABA program in Sacramento. During her tenure with that company, she also worked as a behavior technician in a non-public school for children with an ASD diagnosis, and was promoted to the Lead Tutor position. Upon transfer to another company, she served as an in-home Behavior Consultant for children under the age of eight, and a Behavior Intervention Specialist (B.I.S.) for children with a variety of diagnoses (e.g. Cri Du Chat, Down’s Syndrome, and Fragile X) ranging in age from one year to thirteen years old.
Nikki received her Bachelor’s degree in Psychology with a concentration in Abnormal Child Development in 2001 (magna cum laude), her Master’s degree in Teaching with a special emphasis on Applied Behavior Analysis in 2008 (summa cum laude), and she became a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (B.C.B.A.) in 2009.
Josh Glass, MS
Josh began working with children with autism and their families as a behavior tutor at the Sacramento-based Applied Behavior Consultants school in 2000. Since that time he has worked with children on the autism spectrum and their families as a behavioral consultant for non-public agencies, a behavior specialist for the Travis Unified School District, and as a therapeutic behavior specialist for children at-risk of losing residential placement for Turning Point Community Programs.
Josh graduated from Sacramento State University with bachelors degrees in both Psychology and English in December of 2003, and obtained his Master's of Science in Counseling in May of 2010.
Tara Delgado-Bridges, BA
Tara started working with children on the autism spectrum in 2003 as an Educational Aide at Odyssey Learning Center. In 2004, she began teaching children diagnosed with autism ages 4-16. She joined the Square One team in 2009 looking to work with parents directly, to make a stronger impact in the lives of their children.
Tara graduated from Sacramento State University in 2001 with a Bachelors Degree in Communication Studies. She received two Education Specialist Credentials to teach children with moderate to severe disabilities and mild to moderate disabilities in 2007. She is currently pursuing her Master’s degree in Special Education at Sacramento State University.
Shannon Heidemann, MA
Shannon has worked for non-public agencies as a tutor, lead tutor and behavior consultant for both in-home and Education departments. She started in the field in January 2002. Her duties consisted of providing behavior support and training to parents and school staff, supervising school aides and running a clinical center based program for preschoolers. Shannon has implemented curriculum modifications and ABA programs to children diagnosed on the Autism Spectrum as well as an array of developmental disabilities including Mental Retardation, Fetal Alcohol Syndrome and genetic disorders. During her time with the non-public agencies she earned a Bachelor of Science in Psychology.
In February 2009, Shannon began working as an Autism Educator with Square One. In May 2009, Shannon earned her Master’s degree in teaching with a specialization in Autism. And in June 2010, Shannon completed her coursework for the Board Certified Behavior Analyst program. Once she finishes the required hours, she will sit for the exam to become a BCBA.
Jason Gilbert, MA, BCBA
Jason has worked with children with Autism since 2006 in the Sacramento Area. He subsequently moved to Chico to finish his undergraduate studies, while also remaining in the field. After finishing his undergraduate studies he returned to Sacramento in order to complete his graduate studies and further his knowledge in the field of ABA. Jason has worked as a tutor, a lead tutor, and a consultant throughout his length of time in the field, implementing and then designing behavior plans and interventions. Jason joined Square One in November of 2010.
Jason completed his undergraduate studies in Psychology in 2009 from California State University, Chico. In February 2011, he finished his graduate studies graduating with a Masters in Teaching with an emphasis in Applied Behavior Analysis from National University. He currently plans to sit for the BCBA exam in January of 2012.
Shellie Toney, BA
Shellie began providing early intervention services for children with Autism as a tutor in 1995 for a local Applied Behavior Analysis company. The East Bay based company discontinued providing services to the Sacramento area and asked Shellie to relocate and promoted her to a Case Manager position. After ten years with that company, Shellie moved back to the foothills and work as a Behavior Consultant for a similar company for five years. This company provided ABA, BIS and parent training services for children from 2-18 years of age. Shellie began working at Square One in November of 2010.
Shellie received her Bachelor Degree in Child Development in 2000 at California State University Chico.
Melinda Niederbrach, BA
Melinda originally thought she wanted to be an American Sign Language interpreter and received a Sign Language certificate in 2003. However, in 2004 she started volunteering at a camp for children with emotional, physical, and developmental disabilities. Enthralled by the honesty and energy shown by the children, she knew this was the field she wanted to work in. Since then, Melinda has worked with children on the autism spectrum. She was employed by a non-public school in Orangevale, CA for three years where she provided one on one instructional assistance to students and in addition, she supervised and trained educational aides. She also worked for Albany Unified School District for three years where she created individualized behavior plans for students and transitioned special education students to general education classrooms.
After graduating Cum Laude from California State University East Bay with a degree in Anthropology and Psychology, Melinda joined the Square One team. Her next goal is to obtain a Master’s degree in Applied Behavior Analysis and then become a Board Certified Behavior Analysis.
Diana Schrom, MA
Diana graduated from Northern Illinois University with a Bachelor's of Science degree in Communication and Advocacy. She moved to California from her hometown of Rockford, Illinois and began working in the field of Applied Behavior Analysis in February 2009. She has over ten years experience providing respite care for children with Autism, Mental Retardation and Tourette Syndrome. Diana has experience working as a Tutor, Lead Tutor and Behavior Consultant for a local agency in both the Education Services and a Center Based programs. She joined the Square one team in February 2012.
In 2011, Diana graduated with a Masters in Teaching with an emphasis in Applied Behavior Analysis from National University. She currently plans to sit for the BCBA exam in January 2013.
Kevin Hinely, BA
Kevin began working with children diagnosed with autism in 1999 as an in-home tutor for a Lovaas replication site. He received his bachelors degree in psychology from California State University, Sacramento in 2001. During this time, Kevin was employed as an instructional assistant in a preschool classroom at Applied Behavior Consultants, Inc. He remained there in various capacities including behavior specialist and classroom teacher for an Independent Living Skills class until moving to Chico, CA in 2004. While living there, Kevin was a behavior consultant for three years with Advance Kids. Upon returning to Sacramento in 2008, Kevin continued working as a behavior consultant with B.E.S.T. Consulting, Inc. until joining Square One as an Autism Educator in 2012.
He is currently pursuing a masters degree in teaching to become a Board Certified Behavior Analyst and is excited to be a part of the Square One team.
Julia Gilbert, MA, BCBA
Julia began working with children diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder in 2005 through non-public agencies in in-home and center-based settings. She has worked for these non-public agencies as a tutor, consultant, clinical supervisor, and Director of Northern Region/In-Home Services in the greater Sacramento area and Chico. Her duties consisted of developing treatment programs for clients, providing behavioral support and training to parents and instructional staff, developing behavior intervention plans to target the reduction of problem behaviors, and collaborating with regional centers and local school districts. Julia joined the Square One team in September 2012.
Julia graduated with honors from the University of California, Davis in 2006 with a degree in Human Development and minors in Education and Psychology. She went on to earn her Master’s degree in Teaching from National University in 2009, and became a Board Certified Behavior Analyst in March of 2009.
